B is for blog

Quick post to keep ya all busy

i really do keep thinking its Monday, this bank holiday is screwing me up :-|

and to make it even odder we usually play at crosses corner Mondays, and
for a few reasons didnt make it last night, so im not sure what day it is or what i should be doing ;-)

however apart from a few minor changes jwdesign.org is finished...
hopefully be live on the domain shortly!

Monday went for a bike ride in bracknell with mike and ilona and some friends of theres
was great fun and not too expensive, only £9 to hire bike for 2 hours.
I'll have to do it again, besides walking to Windsor or slough this is prolly the most exercise I've had for a while..
so...its all good!

also might fit in a bit of zoo tycoon today ;-)
just got this yesterday, great fun, i wanna get back to it and look after my monkeys ;-)

Another day another tree stump

Well, 2nd day helping my mum remove some tree stumps from the back garden
and tell you what, its bloody hard work, its like the tree stumps are clinging on for dear life.

2 tree stumps down, 2 cleared areas in garden up

also I've noticed some of the tools look like they should be in a Hong Kong fighting movie or something
a claw type tool, and curved saw,
makes me wonder if Chinese weapons came from farmers tools...

i donno, let again something else to read up on :-)

Comics aka graphic novels

just thought I'd make a quick post about few comics I've bought of late
got a few batman comics. So good! its like returning to my childhood (did i ever leave it?!)
but it turns out i have a lot to catch up on, catwoman is helping batman, batman has nightvision type locators in his mask,
he has a direct voice link to a computer (or person?) called oracle...
so its all a new world for me, but still very cool, and it is amazing how much work goes into these comic books as well,
i wonder how long it takes them to make them!
especially as a lot of them would be hand painted!

i want to read a batman comic called, dark knight
from what i can find online i think it must be called dark knight returns...
if anyone knows what it is or where i can get hold of it, please let me know

oh and how mad is this?!
http://www.rasalghul.co.uk/gotham_map.asp
click gotham maps if the site redirects you somewhere else

oh also got the new battle angel: last order...issue #2
although i think 3 is out now as well,
i do love this series, finding it hard to put down and get on with other stuff....

oh and finally...
there are over 9k steps from Windsor to slough...trust me ;-)

Catch up

i suppose its been too long without a good post!

yet another day of randomness trying to get stuff done...
I've been ok, web work wise has been quiet, which is worrying,
but not sooo bad as it gives me some time to work on this www.jwdesign.org
not a lot to see there yet ;-)

Other stuff going on in my life,
church life is ups and downs as usual,
not so much my relationship with God, more the Church
I wont go into it right now, but i guess just have to hang on and see what happens.

Infinite monkeyz really needs a once over, and perhaps this is something I'll get to doing today/tomorrow.
I have to get ahead of myself with the comic, but have some easy to do ideas, so will be glad when that's done.

Band stuff has been going slowly but surely, bit of complication with Chris and Mark,
with Chris maybe stepping down and Mark maybe stepping up, but time will tell what's gonna happen.
Myself and Rob have been playing at acoustic night at crosses corner for 3 weeks now and things have been going well.
REALLY want to get full band gigging going, but i guess need to be patient :-/
just going through old songs to see what else we could play acoustically, and i have 46 songs to use!!
i mean wow!!
and if that's true, add the 13 we are practing and at least other 10 'heavy songs'
that's about 69 songs!!!

wow, that's a few albums worth ;-)
come on...someone sign me up already!! (lol)

anyway...gotta be with the getting on,
UNTIL NEXT TIME!

Oh also, my bro has posted some good games,
check em out!

Films

right, saw a few films today, and a few that are coming I'm interested in...so thought i may as well post about it ay? ;-)

seen

infernal affairs 2
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0369060/
the sequel/prequel to infernal affairs,
not as good as the first, but I'm kinda involved in the characters enough now i want to see more.
was still interesting and compelling, but not nearly as well done as the first.
i suspect as much as anything this is because of the younger actors playing young versions of the main characters ,
so just not as much acting experience.

makes me want to buy the first film though!

i robot
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0343818/
GROOOOOVY!!!
i did enjoy this film!
i do like the idea touched on by many a film (matrix background story, blade runner, and anime metropolis, ghost in the shell)
robots are all over the country, made to make our life better, but how long before things go wrong?
and free will becomes part of there programming.
This film would have made a great comic book, full of action, and you really start routing for Sonny the robot.
Will Smith did well, not only acting with what i can only guess was 99% blue screen, but also his normal humour keeps the story going where things might otherwise be dull.
good film.

coming
avp
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0370263/
it's gonna be pants, but we are going to see it anyway.
im sure me rob rhys and daniel will just see this on principle..
i.e. we love the alien/predator movies...but why OH WHY didn't they base this film on the excellent comic books by the same name
the comic book has some great parts i would love to see on the big screen.
there is a part where a predator attacks a family in the desert and basically is cloaked on the roof so they have no idea what is going on.
they see their dog ripped apart in front of there eyes, and only a little boy managed to ride off on a near by bike.
there are also some massive alien and predator battle fights, which to be fair, may have been put into this film.
well i guess we will just have to wait and see, but from all the reviews I've just heard bad bad news...

the village
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0368447/
looks scary, defo a film me rob and rhys should check out

tale of 2 sisters
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0365376/
omw, its another asian/tartan scary film!
i doubt this will scary me as much as the ring...
but it might come close, judging my the review on imdb is might be as scary.
i hope not

phone
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0323630/
looks like complete ring rip off,
have a look at the imdb review and it looks like they have ripped off all sorts of stuff..
not sure ill even bother with this one

Wimbledon
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0360201/
looks like average stuff, watchible enough, maybe even interesting ;-)

Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0317198/
as with Wimbledon, prolly good enough to watch once,
it will be fun enough
a warm fuzzy film :-)
good ever once in a while you know.

anyway, FAR too much typing...

Big brother syndication

Acoustic goings on

Me and Rob played at the acoustic night last night at crosses corner in Windsor
We will be doing it again next Monday 9th at 9pm.

It went really well, we impressed a lot of people, people were outside and im told came in to find out who's voice that was singing :-)
The lady who organises the acoustic nights was also impressed, liked our songs, and wanted us to come back.
There is also some other good news, but I'll keep that under my hat until i know if anything comes of it.

Either way, its all very promising, and couldn't have gone better for our first time playing there!
