Snow snow snow

well well well, it snowed, lots
well enough for me to work from the slough office :-)
which I haven't done for yonks!
was a nice change of pace, amazing how relaxed they are there..
having fag breaks every hour on the hour ;-)
(ok guys not THAT bad ;-)
partly I found it less stressful coz I got away from my boss and away from the phones!
so yeah, was very nice and hope to do it again soon.

so now it's Friday, month end today so been blitzing work to try and get things up to billing,
just about done it!

off to have lunch with friends at work and mee as its there last day
which is gonna make me a touch late for a conf call (oops ;-)
but hey, throwing caution to the wind and all that

or something like that...

anyway, mee is here but none of my team are back :-(
argh!
its almost half past so gonna have to go soon anyway :-|
grr SO not enough people!

anyway, i'll continue this later

Some Strong Bad

sbemail95
sbemail96
almost got past me

Haven

it's Tuesday right?

well Tuesday is here
slightly more deaf than usual, ears ringing, coz saw haven last night :-)
that's it the band that sounds like me :-)
in a weird kind of way this inspired me to get going with band stuff again
partly coz new haven stuff, some is very cool, but most is a bit whimpy...happy, like they are trying to make songs that will sell :-(
so it kinda made me think, I can do that, or even, I can do better.
v busy as always at work so wont go on, but quick review
main man looked either very ill or on drugs, and was wearing a scarf!! :-(
very different look to when first saw then, longer hair, all wearing black, very cool
now they look like the are trying to be more Indy :-(

they hadn't played for a while and with new album coming out they played a lot of new material,
some of which was very good, either great vocal hooks and or superb bass lines
one song called 'what is love' or something like that, was very good

the main man was rather more annoying than usual, saying 'nice one' far too much!
but over all they did alright, and sadly the old material outshined the new stuff

support bands, no idea of either of their names, but the first one sounded like coldplay/elbow...
they were very good at what they did, but missed the boat a little,
a bit like, we heard this on the radio and copied it...
I think everyone liked the last song they did

the second support band sounded like my bloody valentine in some ways
which is a good thing, but these guys weren't really very interesting.
a lot of the material sounded the same, so it was a 20 min mess really...
kind of interesting and boring at the same time

you got to hand it to them for the guitars being very loud though :-)

although my ears were ringing before haven came on!...not good really ;-/

anyway, that wraps that up

back to work...:-/

Sunday

well here we are, plenty to post, and keep thinking I'll do it tomorrow but I'm sure ill be busy at work :-|

well, anyway, I'm in a strangely good and odd mood,
somehow has felt like had more time this weekend, I guess coz I did as meeting on Thursday finished early and then had the Friday off
so its at least 1 extra day, so every day has felt as if it should be the day coming, so I guess today is the extra day ...or something ;-)

well anyway, what else, I finally have a game boy advanced sp :-D
thanks to Daniel, fitted with advanced wars 2, which I would recommend to anyone
so much fun and so addictive....
almost makes me wonder why I spend so much money on updating my pc :-|
but then, I guess its worth it really :-)

can't wait till I get paid as cash has been very low!
really really really want to get the mars voltra album!
I keep listening to the single and I love it
so interesting!
oh almost forgot...they used to be 'at the drive-in' another band i love! :-)

I'm kind of in a very happy mood, not sure why, but at the same time regretful I haven't done some things...

I guess as usual I'm trying to please everyone and I don't have the time when I've had some things I've had to do....

want to do some more comics, really 'want' to be funny, to please, I think got some good ideas lined up.
I also wanted to keep working on mee's site, but haven't found the time.
also the hollow site, updating this site with websites I've worked on, learn Cantonese, do gigs, write out new songs, make something of myself, find a new job, I worked towards that one, but not much of the rest :-(
see, I've got so much I want to do!
oh well...

going to see Haven tomorrow, that should give me more of a passion to get my music out there again....

which reminds me, at least 2 new songs to type up the lyrics for...
will be here shortly

anyway, enough rambling for tonight, you can wait till tomorrow for some more ;-)

Microsoft soh?

I Thought We Weren’t Supposed to Change Settings in the Registry?

As you probably know, Microsoft has a sort of love-hate relationship with the registry. The registry is the configuration database for Windows and Windows applications, and many options can only be set by manually changing a value in the registry. For example, if you’ve ever read a Microsoft Knowledge Base article, you’ve likely seen a sentence similar to this:

“To correct this problem, change the following value in the registry.”

Now that’s fine, except that this sentence is invariably followed by a disclaimer similar to this one:

Warning Don’t ever change a value in the registry. Ever. We know we just told you to do that, but would you jump off a cliff if we told you to? Don’t ever change a value in the registry. Don’t even say the word registry. We know a guy once who said the word registry, and three days later he was hit by a bus. True story. As a matter of fact, you shouldn’t even have a registry on your computer. If you suspect that you do have a registry on your computer, please call us and a trained professional will be dispatched to your office to remove the registry immediately. If you accidentally touch the registry, wash your hands with soap and water and call a doctor. Do not swallow the registry or get it in your eyes!

Christmas Songs

saw this here, who in turn saw this here ;-)

<< I came across an article in a newspaper a few years ago in which locals had written in and confessed the lyrics which they used to sing while caroling, or in church. Here are some highlights…

1. “Hark, the Herald Angels Sing” : This is unbelievable, people. In the first verse, which states, “peace on earth and mercy mild, God and sinners reconciled,” one Oregonian reader used to sing, “peace on earth and mercy mild, Goddamn sinners reconciled.” Hmmm. It's actually quite theologically sound, yet involves swearing in church, which is typically not a good thing.

2. “Rudolph, the Red-nosed Reindeer” : While it’s true that the last line of the song actually reads, “You’ll go down in history,” one reader used to sing “You’ll go down and kill Doreen.” Who says violence in the media doesn’t affect children? Poor Doreen never saw it coming.

3. “Away in a Manger” : People, just to be official, the words read “the cattle are lowing, the baby awakes,” not “the cattle are blowing the baby away.” Again, violence in the media ... everyone please write your local mp.

4. “The Christmas Song” : To quote Margie Boule, the writer of the article, “No matter what the records sound like, let’s set this straight: chipmunks are not roasting on an open fire, and Jack Frost is not ripping off your clothes.” Another lady who wrote in said her son used to sing “chest hairs roasting on an open fire.” Ouch.

5. “We Wish You are Merry Christmas” : Yes, we are all aware that some sort of mystery pudding is described in this song. But the correct lyrics read, “Now bring us some figgy pudding,” and definitely not “bring us some friggin’
pudding,” as one reader believed the song said as a child.

I could relate to this article because for many years the song "The First Noel" had me thinking that the word "certain" could be a verb. The line "the first Noel the angels did say was to certain poor shepherds in fields where they lay" mean't to me that the poor shepherds were uncertain about something, so the angels came to "certain" them, that is, to make them certain ... also I thought the song by the Rolling Stones, "If you start me up" was saying "Yugoslavia." >>
