right then, quick update
it's Thursday, not that long before I need to head into London to see Maria for tonight
I've slept in a lot this morning, feels good to do, but I also feel I've wasted half the day, still not feeling great really
still sporting a cold :-(
and now my mum has gone out and I'm home alone I really not too sure what to do with myself.
well, a big THANK YOU to everyone who made it for my fathers funeral yesterday, there was such a big turn out people filled the upstairs of the church AND people were still standing.
it really shows what an impression he made on people
here is the
order of service if you are interested, it includes a few things that weren't read on the day. it's only a text file at the moment, but if i get a chance i will try to compress the 2mb full version!
of course everything seems trivia when compared to things like this,
but ive bought a fair amount of music over last two months and thought it was time I shared and recommended
muse - absolution
good stuff, I thought I might have had enough of muse, as its starting to sound the same,
which I guess it is...but it's still good ;-)
some very nice riffs, which I would like to be fused more into the songs, rather than 'ok now we play the riff a few times'
but anyway overall still have a lot of talent and is interesting, got a feeling muse might be around to stay
uncle - never never land
more 'dancy' beats than previous albums I have got, but is still good.
haven't really looked into it, but it seems like uncle has worked with one guy this time, rather than a lot of different famous people
I could be wrong of course.
anyway, is good, not as good as last album really. happier and less dark in some ways
Jeff Buckley - live at sin-e
excellent supurb..of course ;-)
a hour 2 live gig in a cafe somewhere in new york called sin-e.
you get to hear what kind of a set he creates, how he jokes in-between songs, and really makes the audience feel like they are part of Jeff's little secret.
very good, of course I would recommend just about anything in Jeff's short back catalogue.
I still have a lot to learn from this man, listening to this album makes me want to do some live solo acoustic gigs
the cure - greatest hits
I like the cure, I listen to this and I love the base line and guitar parts, and in an odd way his voice.
I guess really they are just great songs...
love song track 11 on the acoustic cd with this album, is so good., I'm sure it would be good to cover! :-)
and im sure ive heard someone else cover it.
anyway, yeah great stuff!! need to buy some of the original albums, can anyone recommend which one to get? mailto:blizz4rd@angelfire.com
yeah yeah yeahs - fever to tell
so so so good imho!
the best 'loud' music I have really warmed to.
it reminds me of early p j Harvey in some ways, great music for making you want to jump up and down and stuff
and the arrangement and different parts all stuck together, is very interesting and I'm very impressed.
I had only heard the first single and then maps, and didn't expect the album to be so good.
the maps video makes me cry every time.
if you like l7 p j Harvey or loud girls with loud guitars I recommend this ;-)
hot hot heat - make up the breakdown
again very good, LOVE bandages song. the album is a mix of ok and good songs, not so over all good as yeah yeah yeahs,
but I think overall still a good album, with plenty more than just bandages worth a listen.
p.s. apart from hives and strokes (hive not really counting) yeah yeah yeahs ans hot hot heat have to be the first albums of 'this retro' thing going on that I have bought.
Martina toply bird - quixotic
VERY good, such a mix of stuff, some gospel sounding, some dirty guitars pj Harvey sounding songs, some quite gentle tracks, some songs that sound like Natalie imbrulga should be singing.
a good mix of styles that most people should be able to appricate..
I'm not going to link all of those, go use google or amazon :-P
that is all for now..
now to shower, play guitar, maybe work on another comic or play some soul calibur ;-)
