i didn't make it home last night...wanna know why?

right
well, been long weekend, but sadly not been much fun though.
my dad was taken into hospital again on Sunday afternoon..
to quote my brother:

1./ the steroids are making his feet swell, I don't mean like he's bruised
it swell, I mean they are literally like balloons, his skin seems really
stretched. they think that this is to do with the steroids damaging his
liver.
2./ the steroids are also making him put on weight, anyone that knows my dad
would know that he's generally a rather skinny man, but he's put on so much
weight that he's struggling to do alot of things, part of the side effects
of a./ the tumour and b./ the radiotherapy is that he gets tired often and
so his muscles, leg muscles in particular are pretty much wasting away
3./ his chest, when he eats he has trouble swallowing and almost chokes,
they didn't know why this was so they took him for an xray and gave him the
all clear. then on top of this he started getting terrible back pain... they
have another look at the xray and low and behold there is an infection
there. he's given anti-biotics and left it at that, not unreasonable
really... chest infection usually means anti-biotics... however since then
his back has got worse, and that's what we're seeing the doctor for today,
to find out what on earth is going on with his back
we've now been told that dad has got osteoporosis, on top of everything else
apparently being on such strong steroids has caused his bones to get weaker
and weaker, and now they're brittle and he could break something incredibly
easily, he's been given medication (which takes 2 weeks to kick in) and some
very strong pain killers to take until the other stuff starts working

had his liver scanned and its larger than it should be, but no sign of infection.
his head ache has gone, but back ache still present, although I think the latest steroids are helping.
he legs are swollen and have blisters on them, his leg constantly weeps very much like a blister.
he bones are still brittle, and I believe muscles aren't great simply due to lack of exercise.
he is due to be home within the next few days and im sure we must have the results of the brain scan very soon!
so yeah...another emotional weekend flew buy.
didn't really get much done that I meant to, but a few things got done here and there.
I do keep thinking about updates to this site, and perhaps I will get around to them
but at the moment it is far from the most important thing.

Not a good start to the day
Ok, well trains have been pants all this week because of rail work both sides into and out of London from slough.
This is a pain, but as I am catching an early 7.00 train it doesn't effect me too much.
The train usually pulls up at 7.03 and even though they have added a few stops to the journey at the moment, it only delays my total journey 10 mins.
So, I arrive at Paddington at 7.35 ish...I have about 40 mins to get to Liverpool street and meet my gf..usually no problem..
But today I go to the circle line, see an edgeware only tube coming (only 1 stop in the direction I need to go)
But if I get to edge ware I could catch a Hammersmith or a circle line train to Liverpool street, more choice more chance of getting there quicker.
so I get on the edgeware tube, get off at edgeware and as instructed my the voice of the tube driver run over to platforms one and two to continue my journey...
I see a train on platform two and jump on it...
this then takes me back to Paddington just in time for me to see the next circle line tube just leaving..
so..I have in fact wasted 10 mins or so...
I then get the next tube eastbound, another edgeware only tube..
Get to edgeware, am waiting 10 mins for any train...
I try to use a vending machine to get some chocolate I wanted to try to cheer myself up
The machine doesn't like my money.
The tube finally turns up, by which point my gf is half way to Liverpool street, I get on it, it's packed.
I decide to play Tetris to relieve my anger and help time speed by...
I beat my highest score...I manage to leave the name as 'player' my mistake!
I finally arrive at my destination
lets hope my day gets better from here on in! :-)

well I thought I should expand on a few of these things I just mentioned the other day :-)
saw starship troopers again yesterday, cool film.
the bugs out of it look like half life 2 bugs :-)
so..starship troopers rips off/blends aliens and Robocop..
and in turn half life draws from starship troopers..and in many ways starcraft...
not a circle of life but circle of games ;-)
pirates of Caribbean was v good,
I enjoyed it a lot :-)
it was probably the closest I will ever get to seeing a the secret of monkey island film :-)
depp was great, as was elfy guy and the girl too :-) (wow I know all the stars names...)
well anyway, hopefully off to see it with the gf this Friday night...I cant wait to see it again :-)
daredevil is ok,
not bad, better than hulk but worse than batman and Spiderman...
I don't really know the story so not much to compare to really..
but it was enjoyable, the 'blind sight' effects were good,
basically a average film
speaking of going blind the eye was good.
as I've said before not as scary as I was told it was,
I cannot get the image of the ring out of my head :-(
but it was good.
reminded me of project zero.
oh and was kinda cool language wise...
I recognised they were speaking Cantonese through most of film..
I thought it was a Japanese film..but guess its Chinese
then when they travelled to Thailand to see the witches mother they spoke English as they couldn't speak Thai :-)
then the major doctor said. oh your from Hong honk and started speaking mandarin :-)
I just thought it was cool, and funny how many languages have to rely on English at some point..
and here was are in the uk and maybe of us know only English well...
and equilibrium is very good :-)
excellent in fact, I should buy this,
great fighting, good look (although very matrixie) erm and yeeeeeah
the story is questionable, but not everyone seems to agree on its weakness, so perhaps we were being picky
anyway, great film so long as you don't mind them stealing from the matrix...
must see this again too :-)

This month and next month the Earth is catching up with Mars,an encounter that will culminate in the closest approach Due to the way Jupiter's gravity tugs on Mars and perturbs its
orbit,astronomers can only be certain that Mars has not come this close to Earth in the last 5,000 years but it may be as long as 60,000 years.
The encounter will culminate on August 27th when Mars comes to within 34,649,589 miles and will be (next to the moon) the brightest object in the night sky. It will attain a magnitude of -2.9 and will appear 25.11 arc seconds wide.
At a modest 75-power magnification Mars will look as large as the full moon to the naked eye. Mars will be easy to spot. At the beginning of August, Mars will rise in the east at 10p.m. and reach its azimuth at about 3 a.m. By the end of August when the two planets are closest, Mars will rise at nightfall and reach its highest point in the sky at 12:30 a.m. That's pretty convenient when it comes to seeing something that no human has seen in recorded history. So mark your calendar at thebeginning of August to see Mars grows progressively brighter and brighter throughout the month.

looks like America was listening to my Sholin soccer post ;-)
08.04.2003 - A representative of Miramax has just confirmed that their planned wide release of an edited version of the martial arts comedy Shaolin Soccer has been cancelled. In its place, the company will put into limited release, the original Cantonese language version with subtitles. This decision comes after a test screening of Miramax's dubbed version in Calgary, Canada apparently flopped.

well hello there.
it's me again
what is new what is new?
well in case you hadn't notice its been VERY hot in the uk
as I understand it the hottest EVER!
not sure what the top temp has been, but I heard it was 34 yesterday :-(
I can't handle the heat!
which is why work is ok at the mo ;-)
nice air conditioning! :-D
speaking of work still no news on my 'move up',
even though to some degrees I have started doing the job!
bit silly really...
anyway, my manager is back on Monday so will be hassling him then!
not much new on the music side of things, apart from occasional church things not a lot has happened
of course I still write and play stuff myself, and have played with my bro and still plan to perhaps do something there
as ever it is finding the time and MAKING time for things..
speaking of which...the comic really does take up a lot of time.
not that I don't enjoy it, but often I find having to put other stuff to one side or just not having the time as I have to work on some comics.
I guess I don't have as much time as some people anyway, as the lift I lead has me home at 8.30 ish feeling often drained and tired and not really in the mood to do anything...
anyway, I did manage to get lots of comics drawn and inked out the other day so hopefully I'll be in the position soon where I'll have comics done or at least half done ahead of time.
also got plenty of ideas to develop the comic site, and drawn up a few of those too...
speaking of the comic, I recently done some drawings for a mate

I think he is gonna use them for posters fliers and that kind of thing..
as always lots of ideas baking for meesmess.co.uk / infinitemonkeyz.co.uk / and indeed blizz4rd.co.uk
but as always I prolly wont have the time! ;-)

on last Friday I had my first moon cake, as I understand it a moon cake is part of a Chinese tradition in September, so to celebrate passing of season (maybe I'm guessing)
they give each other these cake.
well I tried one on Friday and I loved it!!! :-)
they are like £4 a small fit in the palm of your hand size cake, but are v nice imho ;-)
they are very sweet and have salted egg yolk bits in them, which is an odd combination, but it works :-)
life, hmmm life..well it seems relatively repetitive, but apart from that things are good,
in some ways it does seem like certain things are about to change or break in one way,
certainly job wise something has to change...
and in other areas things are exciting and going well..
nothing is bad as such, well of course having said that there is stuff with my dad is still there,
but then life is semi normal as apart from loosing his hair (which isn't a big deal) he has put on weight and maybe is forgetful and always tired..
so all in all things with him aren't nearly as bad as they could be
anyway, lunch is over and time is up, time to get on..

update update, read all about it..
actually not sure what there is to read about.
as usual I'm unable to keep my promises of photos of the wedding, and probably other updates redesigns and all sorts.
however I will endeavour to get some stuff done this weekend! :-)
however I do have some rough plans...
actually it's funny how quickly you can go from having no plans to having a full weekend.
I will hopefully catch up with my brother, Daniel and Ryan, see star wars galaxies, give Daniel more wedding presents, do more comics and do pa at church.
so yeah, fairly busy ;-/
be good to do those things though, seems like ages since I've seen Ryan and marc,
although of course this means I have to face the dreaded new dog! ;-)
and I haven't been well anyway... but, must be done...
so yeah, what else..
I've been ill. it has felt like a cold but as it is still about now I presume it is some kind of virus :-/
my gf has it too :-(
spent most of Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday sleeping, still not feeling great, but hopefully working it out of my system.
it looks as if I might be getting that senior position within my team, so that is good,
however still got another interview to go, so nothing is certain, but it looks good.
erm yeah, guess that's it for now, hopefully be able to leave soon, I had enough hours ago...
