Right, finally finished watching Metropolis

was good on reflection, fairly predictable I guess as a fair amount of films these days look at robots in society, and what happens if things get out of control..

but anyway, apart from the 1930s (maybe) feel and music,
the thing that really interested me was the animation/drawing style..

it was done by Osamu Tezuka, who did Astro boy

the style of the people is true to Astro boy in some ways, at first this was annoying, using a 'comical' style for a serous type film..
however you get used to it, and what I found interesting was when things did start to go wrong, it was scarier as the normal style is warm and friendly Astro boy..
but when tima becomes 'evil' and her face is smashed etc etc, it looks worse coz you have been staring at Astro boy for 2 hours ;-)

anyway, that is all...
